When you begin you're walk through life, many people assume that their way has been preplotted and planned by their parents' and all you have to do is just follow the road signs to you're destination. Many of us are unclear on exactly where that destination is let alone how to get there. Some people seem to have a clear idea on where they're going to the point where it makes the rest of us feel nervous about our ow directions. Most of us don't however, we fall back on what we think everyone else believes is best for us, we take the easy way out.
I myself was a victim of such thinking. Yes it is easy if you let everyone else think for you, all you have to do is be a good listener and you can sit back and watch everyone else f**k up your life for you and then you can't be blamed for it. How can you? You were on autopilot while everyone else was running your life for you. First your parents, then your guidance councillor, your friends, your teachers, your boss, your girl/boy friend(s), your family, everyone wants to give you some good piece advice which you had better follow or you'll only have yourself to blame. Right. Thank you very much. You listen to what everyone has to say and your to confused and/or frightened to think otherwise. After all, surely they must know better and they do have you're best intentions in mind.

Little by little you suddenly realise that now, they don't know what they're talking about. In fact their just as f**ked up as you. You discover that they're also a victim of conflicting information, here-say and rumour. And that's when it hits you. Oh my god, what the hell am i doing this for? Yes, you've just realised that you've just f**ked you're life up because you listened to what everyone else had to say, and now there's no turning back. No get out of jail free card. No umbrella nor parachute in sight. You're not a pretty little butterfly, unique and one of a kind. You're something the industrialised world just chewed up and spat out to become a nut or a bolt in the big wheel that turns this planet about. You've been had. At this point most people just like yourself, go through a mid-life crisis.

Now I'm not encouraging you to go off and do something crazy, there's no need to go to the office tomorrow and practice inter-personal communication with a sawn-off shot gun on your office mates. I'm just asking you to reflect and listen to that inner voice of yours. The wee little one that you've tried so hard to suppress all your life and just listen to what YOU have to say rather then what THEY have to say. Take it from me, most likely for all the talk and the walk you've put on in you're entire life you've probably never said a word. You've most likely regurgitated whatever drivvel the world has saw fit to implant into your mind. So just listen to yourself you may just have something interesting to say.
